Product Notes
Xavier Cugat, who popularised the music of Latin America worldwide, and his orchestra perform thirty songs taken from 2 LPs, plus bonus tracks. The vocals on some tracks are provided by Mrs. Cugat, the sultry Abbe Lane. By the time the recordings on this CD were made in the early 1960s, showman and orchestra leader Xavier Cugat had been entertaining worldwide audiences for over three decades, with his Latin American dance music and had made hundreds of best-selling records. This CD combines the 'Cugat Plays Continental Hits' album with 'Most Popular Movie Hits' and the three remaining tracks have vocals by Abbe Lane. Tracks include "Petite Fleur", "Volare", "Never On Sunday", "Calcutta, Sucu Sucu", "The Third Man Theme", "Guaglione", "La Dolce Vita", "Al Di La", regular standards on any dance floor. All tracks have been re-mastered and are in glorious stereo. A must for fans of TV's 'Come Dancing'.
