Product Notes
Olivia de Havilland (THE HEIRESS) plays twin sisters in this entertaining psychological film noir. The twins are implicated in a Hollywood murder and a police detective (Thomas Mitchell) must figure out if one or both were involved in the killing. Lew Ayers plays a psychiatrist approached by the detective to help with the complicated case he agrees to see them separately and he's immediately attracted to one of them and fears the other one to be killer, but he's worried that if he's wrong he could end up on a slab in the morgue himself. Beautifully shot in glorious black-and-white by Milton Krasner (ALL ABOUT EVE) with a haunting musical score by Dimitri Tiomkin (DIAL M FOR MURDER) and superior direction by noir-specialist Robert Siodmak (THE KILLERS). Vladimir Pozner received a Best Writing, Original Story Oscar nomination. Screenplay by the films producer, Nunn ally Johnson (THE GRAPES OF WRATH).
