Dirty cops, Inspector Charles Webber (Ward Bond) and Lieutenant John Reese (Barton MacLane) try to strong-arm the fascinating creep, but he turns the table on them and blackmails them with the help of a crooked lawyer, Keith 'Cherokee' Mandon (Luther Adler).
