Today, the Gotenburg Wind Orchestra represents one of Sweden's few remaining professional wind ensembles and carries an international reputation. And There Was Music includes a beautiful folk music suite with tunes from the Swedish jazz pianist Jan Johansson's famous record "Jazz p+Ñ svenska" and Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust," "La Paloma," and "Riverdance," and conductor Alexander Hanson is one of the most requested conductors in Sweden. Since 2005, he is the artistic leader and chief conductor of GWO.
