Product Notes
FLYING (1953): Arthur Godfrey, the folksy TV superstar of his era, commemorates the 50th anniversary of powered flight by hosting this look back at the history of aviation, and a look ahead into it's future. We see some of the earliest wood and canvas airplanes and meet Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, the WWI fighter ace and CEO of Eastern Air Lines. Godfrey, a pilot himself, gets in the captain's chair of an Eastern Air Lines Constellation and heads for the wild blue yonder and demonstrates how the airliner remains aloft even with THREE of it's four engines shut down. AIRPORT AMERICA (1954): Airport America shows US the good that planes can do such as crop-dusting farmers' fields and fire-spotting in national forests. SPECIAL DELIVERY (1946) Special Delivery spotlights the destructive capability of air power. A B-29 flying above Bikini Atoll drops a nuclear bomb, producing a hundred million degree blast heard around the world!
