Product Notes
Pick up this fruit punch colored vinyl, a live performance by The Sweet recorded in 1976 in Berlin Germany. The Sweet were considered a 'Glam Rock' band. That genre was defined by only a few groups. Outside of KISS and The New York Dolls, there weren't very many that could really put on a great live show. They consisted of Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Andy Scott and Mick Tucker. The key to having them reach a larger audience was when they graduated from the 'bubblegum' Archies style they began with on Funny Funny. Well, if they wanted to go to the 'sugary' side of the pop charts, they picked the right name. When they utilized a more 'hard rock' approach, they began having success in the UK with "Block Buster," "Hell Raiser," "Turn It Down," and their anthem, "Ballroom Blitz." The Sweet were much more popular in Germany and other European countries. Here in the US, they had a bigger following only after "Ballroom Blitz," their first hit for Capitol Records in 1975. This show is as good as any live performance you will hear by the band. Energetic, good old fashioned hard rock. They were technically very proficient and deserve another listen... especially live.
