In this witty, Cajun-flavored romantic mystery, Dennis Quaid is New Orleans cop Remy McSwain working a murder case that appears to be mob related, when he first encounters attorney Anne Osborne (Ellen Barkin), who is conducting an investigation of her own into police corruption. At first clashing with one another, Remy and Anne come to realize the heat is all about their mutual attraction-consummated in one of the screen's steamiest love scenes.
