In this witty, Cajun-flavored romantic mystery, Dennis Quaid is New Orleans cop Remy McSwain working a murder case that appears to be mob related, when he first encounters attorney Anne Osborne (Ellen Barkin), who is conducting an investigation of her own into police corruption.
