Product Notes
In a small German village that now hosts an American military base, the still-smarting locals grudgingly but determinedly turn to the soldiers to sustain their economy. A black market trucker (Helmut Wildt) opts to rekindle things with an ex-lover (Ingmar Zeisberg) now married to a U.S. officer-but the dalliance will set up a tragedy he can't escape. Gritty effort, long suppressed for it's frank depiction of anti-Semitism, co-stars Hans Cossy. 113 min. Includes original and edited cuts. Widescreen; Soundtrack: German; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; edited cut. In German with English subtitles. BW/Rtg: NR
