Product Notes
This album features the work of the vocal group responsible for laying the groundwork for the explosion of doo wop in the mid-to-late '50s. Formed from various gospel groups in 1952, the Du-Droppers are an important link between gospel groups, harmony groups and the rise of doo wop and rock 'n roll. Their rockin' sounds presented here from the answer song to the Dominoes, "Sixty Minute Man", "Can't Do Sixty No More" to "Boot 'Em Up is essential to any serious vocal group collection. Their two biggest hits were "I Wanna Know" and "I Found Out (What You Do When You Go Round There)," both of which reached #3 on the Billboard R&B charts. One of the CD's toughest tracks "Bamalam" was written by Leiber & Stoller but remained unissued until the '80s. Julius Caleb Ginyard, lead tenor; Willie Ray, tenor and baritone; Harvey Ray, baritone and tenor; Eddie Hashaw, bass. Acrobat. 2005.
