Product Notes
Chester Morris. A small-time jewel thief with skills as an expert safe-cracker is well known to local law enforcement as Boston Blackie. But the fact is, he's better known to police and one Inspector Faraday for the assistance he gives to them in catching big-time killers and capital offenders. A series of 14 total films from 1941 to 1949 starring Chester Morris as the wise-cracking, bad boy/good boy, but sympathetic hero Boston Blackie, charms the badge right off the uniform. The triple feature gathered here includes One Mysterious Night (Janis Carter. 1944/61 min), in which the cops solicit Blackie's help in recovering the Blue Star of the Nile Diamond stolen from an exhibit. Follow that with A Close Call For Boston Blackie (Lynn Merrick. 1946/60 min), when our hero gets framed for murder and proceeds to catch the real killer. Finally, in Boston Blackie's Chinese Venture (Maylia. 1949/59 min), Blackie leaves a Chinese laundry where the owner's been murdered and he goes hunting in Chinatown for the killer. B&w/NR/fullscreen.
