The off-road race the Manilla 1000 is right around the corner, and seemingly indestructible driver "Walkaway" Madden (Joe Don Baker) has his eye on the top prize. But he'll have his hands full dealing with a sexy reporter (Susan Sarandon) who wants to tag along during the race, and his ex-partner (Alan Vint), who'll be competing against him.
