THE DEADLY COMPANIONS Yellowleg, Turk and Billy, a trio formed purely on opportunistic prospects, ride into Gila City with a plan. They've heard that the town has a "new bank and an old Marshall," and figure that means easy money. But when they get into it with a rival gang looking to rob the same bank, a stray shot from Yellowleg's gun leaves a local boy dead. Guilt-ridden upon facing the boy's single mother, Yellowleg compels Turk and Billy to accompany him on a journey to bury the boy near the grave of his father, deep in Apache territory. But their quest could falter at any time, either at the hands of Indian bandits, the indifferent hand of luck, or under the weight of a secret vengeance burning hot in Yellowleg's gut.
