Devil and the Deep

Intense drama stars Charles Laughton as mentally unstable naval officer Cmdr. Charles Sturm, whose jealousy forces wife Diana (Tallulah Bankhead) into the arms of Lt. Sempter (Gary Cooper). When Sempter shows up for duty aboard his submarine, Sturm goes off the deep end and collides the vessel with a freighter. A struggle for command between the two men ensues as stowaway Diana attempts to convince the crew that her spouse is insane. Cary Grant co-stars. 78 min.
