Product Notes
Screenwriter Martin Mooney based this gripping, action-filled tale about racketeers preying on innocent people on the celebrated New York District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey. A crusading crime reporter (Stuart Erwin) is approached by the daughter (Madge Evans) of a shop owner (J. Farrell McDonald) to investigate the mobsters who have threatened her father. With the help of a suave society lawyer (Franchot Tone) who injects some delightful and unexpected romance into the story, they work together to fearlessly engage the mobsters and outmaneuver their attempts to escape the law. Director George B. Seitz (You're Only Young Once, Andy Hardy Meets Debutante) masterfully blends the script's edge-of-your-seat action with love in this compelling tale.
