Best known for her 1975 #1 charted R&B hit "Rockin' Chair," soul chanteuse Gwen McCrae first recorded as a duo with then husband George McCrae in 1963 and went on to become one of America's leading female R&B vocalists of the 1970's. in the late 1980's Gwen traveled to the UK where she became a popular attraction on the Northern Soul scene and eventually recorded a full length album for the British Homegrown label in 1996. Gwen's songs have been sampled frequently by artists such as the French house music duo Cassius and DJ rapper/producer Madlib among others. Here Gwen performs her 1981 hit "Funky Sensation" which was heavily sampled in the German Language single "Get Up," by DJ Thomilla featuring Afrob. Also included is an exclusive instrumental version.
