Van Johnson stars as Lt. Michael Grayson in this WWII action drama tribute to the U.S. 442nd. Regimental Combat Team, which was formed in 1943 with Japanese-American volunteers. The prejudiced Lt. Grayson reluctantly takes command of the platoon through training and into battle in Italy and France. As the men distinguish themselves in combat Grayson soon realises that his prejudices were unfounded as he grows to respect their courage and loyalty.
