Product Notes
Here are four Poverty Row movies on two discs, all from Grand National: HERE'S FLASH CASEY (1938) Eric Linden, Boots Mallory, Cully Richards, Holmes Herbert. Linden, in the title role, finds that after working his way through college as a photographer, the actual newspaper industry is a lot tougher than he expects! NAVY SPY (1937) Conrad Nagel, Eleanor Hunt, Judith Allen, Jack Doyle. Nagel's a smooth federal agent who, along with nosey reporter Eleanor Hunt, go after a gang that has kidnapped a scientist for his new vapor fuel formula. Look for some great ship-board action scenes at the cllimax of the film. Another of the George Hirliman productions that Nagel starred in, all of which are solid B efforts. From 16mm. HELD FOR RANSOM (1938) Blanche Mehaffey, Grant Withers, Bruce Warren, Jack Mulhall. Kidnappers appear to renig on the release of their victim after the ransom has been paid? The feds put a crackerjack female operative on the case and sparks soon fly. THE LONG SHOT (1939) Marsha Hunt, Gordon Jones, C. Henry Gordon, Harry Davenport. Davenport faces financial ruin from bad guy and rival stable owner C. Henry Gordon, so he decides to fake his own death and bequeath his prize horse to his pretty young niece, Marsha Hunt. Bad guy Gordon doesn't take this lying down but hero Gordon Jones is around to help straighten things out.
