Product Notes
Academy Award -nominated writer-director Michael Haneke (2013, Amour) expertly incorporates the many stories of a troubled family dealing with personal and social issues in HAPPY END. After her mothers death, 13-year-old Eve (Fantine Harduin) comes to move in with her philandering fathers (Matthieu Kassovitz), family, including patriarch (Jean-Louis Trintignant), dealing with old age and failing health; an aunt (Academy Award nominee Isabelle Huppert, 2017, Best Actress, Elle), trying to keep together the family business; and a distraught cousin (Franz Rogowski), who feels he has no place in life. The family deals with life, death, infidelity and the modern political and social climate, leading to a surprising ending.
