With a line up of guitar, kazoo, jug and washboard, the Memphis Jug Band, although associated with Blues, were really an all round entertainment group. They always remained a band with a lot of time for Blues but soon diversified into traditional songs, pop and eventually self composed material. Over eight years and 80 sides they amassed one of the most varied and fascinating bodies of work in the history of Black music.
