In this rare, early non-cowboy role, John Wayne stars as Dick Wallace, playboy heir to a considerable fortune. His wealthy (and strict) businessman father is determined to rein him in before giving him any more money, and puts him to work out in the country. That's where he falls in love with Marion (Evelyn Knapp), a poor reverends daughter. But now she, too, will end up having to prove herself to the old man, who suspects her of being just another gold-digger!
