Product Notes
Sought after for his outstanding collaborative abilities, Chip Stephens can be heard on nearly 40 recordings as a side-man and leader. He appears on several Capri releases, including Keith Oxman's last two CDs and Nat Yarbrough's Trio CD from 2006. Chip Stephens is an anxious, energetic, and uncommonly talented pianist and composer. Holding on to What Counts is his first release for Capri and it displays an impressive command of a widely varied palette of compositional and improvisational styles. He has performed on four continents with some of the finest names in jazz, and frequently appears as a guest artist and clinician in the United States.
