Legendary vocalist Perry Como stars as entertainer Allan Clark, who is manipulated into a gubernatorial campaign by shady manager Wally M. Jones (Phil Silvers). It all begins when Clark is hired to perform at a rally for a gubernatorial candidate who is running against a corrupt incumbent. When Jones notices that the crowd takes a shine to Clark, he manipulates events so that Clark replaces the incumbents opponent. Eventually, the crooked schemes that placed Clark on the ballot weigh on his conscience, and he tells the public that his backers are crooks... and he still manages to win the election!
