Product Notes
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in gatefold jacket. Includes bonus track. Following his superb 1960 LP Out of the Cool, Gil Evans released Into the Hot, which alternates three tracks on which his band plays compositions by trumpeter Johnny Carisi, with three others composed and performed by avant-garde pianist Cecil Taylor. While the Evans sides feature such musicians as Clark Terry, Bob Brookmeyer and Phil Woods, the Taylor tracks showcase a septet including himself on piano plus Ted Curson, Roswell Rudd, Jimmy Lyons, and Archie Shepp, among others.
