Product Notes
"John Bunny - Film's First King of Comedy" is a documentary by Tony Susnick about the movies' first comedy superstar. Before there was a Hollywood, sound movies and Charlie Chaplin, Bunny was the first comic superstar to be known by name. Forgotten by generations, John Bunny is starting to get the recognition he deserves. The Library of Congress stated, "actor John Bunny merits significant historical importance as the American film industry's earliest comic superstar." The DVD also includes 4 rare John Bunny film: The Feudists (1913), Bunny's Dilemma (1913), Kitty and the Cowboys (1911) and Hearts and Diamonds (1914). These rare shorts are seen here in 35mm prints preserved by the Library of Congress, and feature new piano scores by Ben Model. Bonus: interview with Sam Gill, renowned film historian. "John Bunny: Film's First King of Comedy is another noteworthy documentary about the largely-forgotten man who can rightly claim the title Tony Susnick has given him in his documentary." - Leonard Maltin. DVD is NTSC, Region-free.
