Product Notes
Johnny Weissmuller. After nearly 20 years of jungle adventures as 'Tarzan the Ape Man", Weissmuller throws his physical being into another vine-swinging hero. Jungle Jim was the nickname of the comic strip character Jim Bradley, who became an ample source of adaptations for TV and films. Here are several movies featuring the character as he takes on one dangerous challenge after another in the uncharted wild. First up is "Mark of the Gorilla" (Trudy Marshall. 1950/68 min), in which our hero tries to stop Nazis, disguised as gorillas, from searching for gold. In "Pygmy Island" (Ann Savage. 1950/69 min), Jungle Jim desperately searches for missing WAC Captain Ann Kingsley. Jim then battles a giant spider when he tries to help the women of a tribe whose men have been enslaved to find an animal that produces a dangerous narcotic in "Fury of the Congo" (Sherry Moreland. 1951/69 min.) In "Jungle Manhunt" (Bob Waterfield. 1951/66 min), a former football hero has been missing since his military plane went down 9 years ago and Jim sets out to find him. "Jungle Man-Eaters" (Karin Booth. 1954/68 min) finds Jim trying to stop the dangerous plan of a diamond smuggler and a renegade tribe. Last up is "Jungle Moon Men" (Jean Byron. 1955/70 min), which while not an official Jungle Jim movie does star Weissmuller as a Jungle Jim type character who is captured by pygmy Moon Men who worship the Princess Oma when he travels to the remote Baku area in Africa. 2 DVDs.
