Product Notes
Bologna, 1857: Jewish 6-year-old Edgardo Mortara (Enea Sala) was forcibly abducted from his home by the Catholic Church under testimony from Anna Morisi (Aurora Camatti), the housekeeper who'd clandestinely baptized him as a critically ill infant. The fight of his parents (Barbara Ronchi, Fausto Russo Alesi) for his return, and the roiling scandal the incident stirred, are stunningly dramatized in Marco Bellocchio's fact-based opus. Leonardo Matese, Paolo Pierobon also star. 134 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Italian; Subtitles: English; featurettes; theatrical trailer. In Italian with English subtitles.
