Captain Wolf Larsen runs his hunting ship with an iron fist, brutally crushing mutinies and keeping his sailors in line under the threat of death. Aristocratic writer Humphrey Van Weyden is captured and forced to work for Larsen, and soon the two develop a mutual respect for one another. But that respect can't survive the brutality of Larsen's methods.
