Product Notes
Basie had just leapt to stardom when the 1937 broadcast here aired. Two more from 1938 and 1940 join Moten Swing; King Porter Stomp, and the rest featuring Lester Young and Jimmy Rushing. A set of swinging 1939-43 broadcasts from Benny Carter (heard here on alto sax, trumpet and clarinet) features Fish Fry; Back Bay Boogie; Opening Night; Melancholy Lullaby, and more!
