Lance Corporal Gordon Laid (Robin Askwith), just demobbed from the army arrives at a borrowed luxury apartment to find a dying man. His neighbor turns out to be the delectable Maxine Lupercal (Fiona Richmond), superstar of stage and screen - and Gordon's idol! Unwittingly, he also acquires a valuable secret device, the PJ46. He is pursued by international thief Moncrieff Dovecraft (Anthony Steel), and his sinister henchmen. The police are soon on his trail.
