Product Notes
Mohawk is a 1956 drama starring Scott Brady and Rita Gam. The film reuses many sequences used from the 1939 film Drums Along the Mohawk. In 18th century upstate New York a quarrelsome white man named Butler (John Hoyt), seeks to foment war with the Indians to rid the Mohawk Valley of the natives and settlers he despises. Butler (John Hoyt) goes to the Iroquois chief to ask for his assistance, but the chief is not interested. However, the chief's son Keoga (Tommy Cook), and Indian brave Rokhawah (Neville Brand), plot a raid to steal the setter's muskets. They are also assisted by Keoga's sister Onida (Rita Gam), but many Indians are killed and Onida is captured. Jonathan Adams (Scott Brady) is an artist commissioned to do paintings and portraits. He arrives from Boston with his sweetheart Cynthia Stanhope (Lori Nelson). Once in upstate New York Adams becomes attracted to Onida as he frees her from capture, and earns the trust of the Iroquois chief. As Adams is accompanied back to the fort, he and Keoga (Tommy Cook), encounter an ambush and Keoga is killed. The Iroguois chief holds the white men responsible for the attack, and takes Adams hostage. Captivity and love ensue amidst the chaos and bloodshed.
