Product Notes
Originally released on Vault Records in 1970, this album stands as the earliest documented tribute to the iconic songs associated with Phil Spector. While many artists attempted to replicate Spector's Wall of Sound, this release from the soft-rock vocal quartet 'The Monday Blues' marked the initial among numerous album tributes dedicated to the now legendary Tycoon of Teen. The arrangements reflect a closer alignment with the evolving singer-songwriter style of that time (rather than the Brill Building era), however, this divergence actually benefits the album, shaping it into a homage to Spector's songs rather than attempting to replicate his unique approach to production. The track list predominantly features songs from the Ronettes and Crystals, and wonderfully captures the essence of their work and the undeniable genius of Spector on tracks including 'Walking in the Rain', 'Be My Baby' and 'Chapel of Love'.
