Product Notes
The Andrews Sisters emerged from Minneapolis to become the most popular female vocal group of the entire pre-1955 era. Born to Greek/Norwegian parents the sisters became the first female group to score a million selling disc with Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen in 1938. Led by Patty, the trio appeared in many 1940s movies, and their unmistakable sound helped define the wartime era. By the mid-1950s the sisters had recorded over 400 songs achieving six chart toppers and countless gold discs. There was nothing that the sisters could not do - starting their career with an adaptation of a Yiddish melody and moving on to tropical tunes, musical comedy numbers, C&W, gospel hymns and even Hawaiian music. Their hundreds of hits are well represented on various compilation CDs so we have featured the more hard-to-find recordings. The sisters also recorded with other popular artists of the day such as Bing Crosby, Dick Haymes and Dan Dailey.
