Product Notes
Perhaps it was all his years playing sessions with country and pop acts like Maria Muldaur, Anne Murray, and Martin Mull (the comedian released a couple of song-oriented comedy albums in the '70s) that led to Canadian blues guitarist Amos Garrett's unflashy, offhand approach. But even without the tunes "Wrong Lake to Catch a Fish" or "Just like a Fish," both included here, Off the Floor Live! Would probably sound like the work of a guy as comfortable casting a line in a lake as he is breathing in second-hand smoke in a dingy nightclub after last call. On this, his first live disc, Garrett casually let's fly fluid leads in a range of styles that include the gentle Hawaiian sway of "Sleepwalk," the charged Bo Diddley shuffle of "Willie and the Hand Jive," the melancholy stardust of "That's What a Little Dream Can Do," and the sax-led sleaze of "Goose Grease."
