Product Notes
CD reissue. If you ask any British comedian for their favorite of their peers, anyone over the age of 40 years old (and quite a few under) is going to unanimously say Peter Cook! Actor, raconteur, comedian, TV star and foul-mouthed recording artist, he is possibly best known for his decades long partnership with the diminutive Dudley Moore. In 1961, at the height of the post-war boom in satire, Cook opened a nightclub called The Establishment, which featured such luminaries as Lenny Bruce, Barry Humphries, David Frost and a jazz trio with a diminutive pianist. Cook and more continued their partnership -off and on- until Cook drank himself to death in 1995 at the age of 57. During the Swinging Sixties, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were the hippest comedians around. In 1966, they even enticed John Lennon onto their TV show, playing a cameo role as a lavatory attendant, and they made this insanely funny record, which still makes one laugh even though more than half a century has passed.
