Product Notes
This tuneful sports comedy-drama follows a college football star who must choose between preserving his health and playing in the big game. Wealthy Carlton College alumnus Grant Haines makes a secret pact with the college president (Douglas Wood) that he will bequeath his fortune to the nearly bankrupt college, provided they beat archrival State three years in a row. Haines' young cousin Ken Thomas (William Hopper), the star quarterback, is a large reason why Carlton College is one win shy of the big endowment. But when an injury and his girlfriend, Lucille (June Travis), compel Ken to quit, his motivations are questioned, especially when Haines' covert promise becomes public and Ken's coach suspects that he wants the fortune to stay in the family instead of going to the college. Making matters worse, outside forces conspire to help Ken fail no matter what he decides. Feature debut of trumpeter Johnnie Davis.
