Product Notes
The box set of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2023 consists of 2 CDs that include all 12 laureates of this tenth session of the Competition devoted to the voice. You will hear these young artistes in their performances from the first round and the semi-final with piano, as well as those from the final, accompanied by the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alain Altinoglu. The first disc comprises opera arias and songs with orchestra heard during the 3 days of the final in Bozar; the second CD includes the performances recorded in Flagey. The Korean baritone Taehan Kim, first prize, holds pride of place in the box set with most of his performances in the final and a large part of his programme in the semi-final and the first round. Second prize, the American contralto Jamsin White (also winner of the Audience Prize Prix Musiq3) is also well represented in a selection that reflects the diversity of her repertory, from Handel to Montsalvatge, through Mahler and Wagner. The soprano Julia Muzychenko-Greenhalgh, third prize, also shines in a programme on a par with her professional itinerary. The 12 laureates - among 412 candidates received this year for this voice Competition - share this abundant anthology with a great variety of voices and repertories, enabling you to discover the great moments of this exceptionally brilliant session.
