It was the early '40s in Northern California, and just-drafted pin setter "Hopper" Nash (Sean Penn) wanted to make the most of his final weeks before shipping out with the Marines. While pursuing a flirtation with cute movie ticket taker Caddie Winger (Elizabeth McGovern), he mistakenly believes she's well off... and her decision not to correct him might have dire consequences for them as well as his in-trouble best pal Nicky (Nicolas Cage), in Richard Benjamin's funny and touching drama. 108 min.
