Product Notes
'Many people were eagerly expecting a new record by Vittor Santos... Those acquainted with his previous precious works on 'Trombone' ( 1994) and 'Sem Compromisso' (1996), were longing for it for many years. This delay was only partially mitigated by Vittor's many and remarkable participations as trombonist and/ or arranger in numerous records over the last few years. 'Renewed Impressions', placates this expectation through eight themes in which there is a relation to his previous records, where he is working again in a quintet setting. Among the musicians who alternate in this quintet during those eight tracks, two had already participated in 'Trombone' and in 'Sem Compromisso', namely, guitarist Fernando Clark, and drummer Cassio Cunha. The other members are bassist Rodrigo Villa ( who participates on all tracks ), pianists Cristina Bhering, Philippe Baden Powell, and Vitor Goncalves, ten string mandolinist, Hamilton de Holanda, and drummer Marcio Bahia. This group of musicians is greatly responsible for the instrumental richness superbly translated in the arrangements. Vittor, besides being an instrumentalist with perfect technical skills and a fluent and creative soloist, is also an arranger who knows how to get the most of each instrument and to inhance their interaction.' Antonio Carlos Migual, O Globo, Brazil, 2006.
