Product Notes
The music of Nitish Kulkarni lies at a crossroads between several different musical approaches. Synth-backed string music, classic new age and occasional Indian instrumentation all converge into a unique, enjoyable sound. Produced in conjunction with John Adorney, the music has a shimmering, majestic sound that relies on breezy melodies. The album's lead single "Mermaid" kicks off the album with laid back guitar rhythms and bubbling keyboard tones that present a sound concurrent with the song's aquatic title. "Gold and Silver" is firmly rooted in new age music, but features a main melody that has an Indian string sound. "As the Water Lilies Grow" is one of the album's most enchanting songs, with a slow, atmospheric piano melody that conveys tenderness and serenity. Adorney is on hand for many of the songs, playing guitar and strings, while Kulkarni's keyboards take center stage.
