Audio Remasterer: John Jungklaus. Liner Note Author: Brad McCuen. With 22 tracks split between Rosemary Clooney, Helen O'Connell, and June Christy, this set features three of the classiest jazz and pop singers of the 1950s, and although it might have been better had each of the singer's songs been grouped together (it's all mix and match here), it's still a pleasant collection. Highlights include Christy's "Love Is Just Around the Corner," O'Connell's "I See Your Face Before Me," and Clooney's "You Make Me Feel So Young" (not to mention her version of the goofy but endearing "Love, Nuts and Noodles," which closes out this set). Fun and full of love, romance, and some beautiful melodies, Great Girl Singers is wonderfully free of irony and angst, and it makes one a bit sad that they don't write 'em or sing 'em like this much these days. - Steve Leggett.
