Product Notes
Jim Fallon (Kirk Douglas) is a lumberman in the 1900's. He wants to harvest the big sequoia redwoods in northern California. The land is already settled by a religious group led by Elder Bixby (Charles Meredith) who have a religious relationship with the trees, and refuse to log them. Jim becomes infatuated with Elder Bixby's daughter, Alicia (Eve Miller), although he still plans to cheat the homesteaders. When Jim's right-hand man, Yukon Burns (Edgar Buchanan) finds out, he leads the locals in resisting Jim. Elder Bixby is killed when a redwood tree is chopped down by Jim's men and falls on his cabin. Jim tries desperately to save Alicia's father, but to no avail. Meanwhile, another timber rival Cleve Gregg (Harry Cording) appears on the scene, making it a three-way fight. Things heat up. How will this story end? Happily or with regret? You must watch this great Kirk Douglas classic to find out. (88 minutes - 1952 - Color - 4:3)
