Product Notes
Emotionally compelling film as Harry (Edmond O'Brien) and his wife Eve (Joan Fontaine) are planning to adopt a child. When Mr. Jordan (Edmund Gwenn), the adoption agent, tells Harry that he must investigate their background before an adoption can take place, Harry becomes visibly distraught. Harry and wife Eve run a business together. Eve has put her whole life into the business, ignoring Harry and his emotional needs. Harry travels to Los Angeles, lonely and needing companionship, where he meets Phyllis Martin (Ida Lupino). The two begin as friends, but as Eve takes a more intense interest in the business, Harry and Phyllis' relationship develops into a romantic affair. Harry and Eve still want to adopt a child, but Mr. Jordan uncovers some unsavory information regarding Harry, and things begin to get complicated. Eve's father passes away just as Harry is about to make a confession to her. You'll never guess the ending. This is an absolute must-see movie! (80 minutes - 1953 - Black & White - 4:3)
