Actor John Woodford is murdered during the opening scene of his play! The police have many suspects, including the leading lady Doris Terry and stage director Richard Quayle, but the case is left unsolved following the mysterious disappearance of Woodford's corpse. Years later, Arthur McHugh, an unlikely producer, assembles the original cast and crew to reopen the theatre with that fateful play.
