D.W. Griffith directed this dramatic tale of a man who escapes to the South Pacific with his daughter after murdering his wifes lover. The film stars Carol Dempster, Richard Barthelmess, and George MacQuarrie, and was made at great peril: Griffith and his crew experienced a hazardous voyage from Miami to the Bahamas during the films production, with two men going overboard and no food for three days. The Love Flower remains one of his lesser known films, but still boasts Griffiths vaunted dramatic sense, as well as the fine camera work of Griffiths long-time collaborator, Billy Bitzer.
