Product Notes
A Classic film directed by the great Otto Preminger, Frankie Machine (Frank Sinatra) is released from prison with a set of drums and a new outlook on life. A former drug addict, Frankie returns home to his wife, Zosh (Eleanor Parker) in hopes of getting a job as a drummer in a band. Zosh, supposedly wheel-chair bound, stifles her husband in their small apartment and hinders his attempt to make something of himself. Frankie bumps into an old flame, Molly (Kim Novak) who lives in the apartment just below. Unlike Zosh, Molly encourages his dream of becoming a drummer. It isn't long before Frankie meets up with old acquaintances, Schwiefka (Robert Strauss), whom Frankie dealt illegal card games for, and Louie (Darren McGavin), Frankie's former drug dealer. Things begin to take a turn for the worse. This movie is a real 'gripper' from beginning to end. A great watch with lots of twists and turns along the way! (117 minutes - 1955 - Black & White - 4:3).
