In a remote forest in 1870s England, Dr. Robert Vance works diligently to make his mental hospital a place of respite and healing. Some would say he has not worked hard enough. For though his lovely and compassionate nurses tend to the tormented patients with empathy and dedication, the asylum is marred by a sinister, murderous spirit. A shadowy hooded figure is seen in the halls by night, and rumors are spoken by patients long since dismissed as mad, that Dr. Vance himself is nothing of the benign, conscientious hospital director he would have everyone believe him to be.
