Product Notes
Sheriff Pat Garrett (Thomas Mitchell) welcomes his old friend Doc Holliday (Walter Huston) to New Mexico. Doc is looking for his stolen horse and finds it in the possession of Billy the Kid (Jack Buetel), and the two gunslingers take a liking to each other, much to Pat's disgust. That evening Billy is shot at. He overpowers his ambusher, who turns out to be curvaceous Rio McDonald (Jane Russell), out to avenge her brother's death. Doc and Billy ride toward Rio's home. Doc leaves Rio with Billy, with whom she has fallen in love. Doc is furious that Billy has stolen his girlfriend. Billy gives him a choice: the horse or Rio. To Billy's annoyance, Doc picks the horse. Angered that both men value the horse more than her, Rio fills their canteens with sand as the two ride off. And this is just the start of shoot-outs, captures, love and loss. A great timeless western! Theatrical trailer is included as a bonus after the movie! (111 minutes - 1943 - Black & White - 4:3)
