Writer/director Alan Parker spoofs modern diet crazes with a look back to the early 1900s, when physician/inventor/cereal pioneer Dr. John Kellogg (Anthony Hopkins) lured the rich to his Michigan sanitarium/spa for a bizarre-and sometimes fatal-regimen of exercise, health food, sexual abstinence, and enemas.
