Product Notes
2013 double vinyl LP pressing. This compilation features big name after big name, all in tribute to one of the late, great country legend, Eddy Arnold. The maestro recorded his first single in 1945, charted 147 songs-28 of which were number one hits-released over 100 albums, and sold more than 85 million records. Between 1947 and 1948 he outsold the entire pop division at his label, RCA Records, owning the number one song at the top of the country charts for an astounding 60 straight weeks in '68. No other recording artist has lodged Top Ten hits in seven straight decades, and there's been no other steadier or more consistent artist in the modern recording era. It's a wonder that Arnold is largely unknown to contemporary music fans. This important tribute, orchestrated by Arnold's grandson R. Shannon Pollard and produced by Cheetah Chrome, features everyone from Frank Black to Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits), all with refreshing takes on Arnold's songs. The man is truly one of a kind, and this homage proves it.
